 NABL reaccredition for Kasturba Hospital Lab

Manipal, May 27, 2022: Kasturba Hospital, Manipal Laboratory Services has been reaccredited with National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).

NABL is a Constituent Board of Quality Council of India.

Dr. H S Ballal, Pro-Chancellor of MAHE and Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor MAHE, Manipal jointly handed over the certificate of accreditation to Dr. Sharath K Rao, Dean KMC, Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent, and Dr. Ravindra Maradi, Director of Kasturba Hospital Laboratory Services.

Dr. H S Ballal congratulated the team and said that the NAAC team that visited recently was also very impressed with the quality maintained in the MAHE group.

Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh stressed the important role of quality and accreditation.

“Kasturba Medical College and Hospital Manipal are always in the forefront. It is a continuous process. All new achievements give us more responsibility also. This accreditation helps us in giving the quality at Laboratory services to the public,” he said.

Dr. PLNG Rao, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Medical and Dental Sciences), Dr. Venkatraya Prabhu (Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences), Dr. Narayan Sabhahit, Registrar of MAHE Manipal, all Lab HODs and management staff were present.

Dr. Ravindra Maradi, Director, Kasturba Hospital Laboratory Services, Manipal in his overview said that the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) has renewed the accreditation for Kasturba Hospital Laboratory Services, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal for two more years till 2024.

“More than 400 tests have been accredited by the NABL as per the standard ISO 15189. The laboratory follows a stringent quality assurance program for reliable reports. The reports generated in the laboratory are accepted nationally and internationally. The accreditation improves the patient outcomes, decreases the risks, and fosters a culture of quality and safety,” he added.
