Rain damages houses, horticulture crops in Udupi district
Udupi, May 17, 2022: Heavy rain and lightning in the region on Monday has damaged houses and crops in Udupi district.
Most of the incidents were from Kundapur Taluk.
Officials said that Saroja, a resident of Kaup Taluk sustained injuries due to lightning. The Tahsildar office has been directed to provide necessary medical treatment to her.
Houses- shed damaged:
As many as 19 houses were partially damaged- 13 in Kundapur Taluk, 2 in Karkala, one each in Udupi and Kaup Taluk and two in Brahmavar.
Crop loss:
The horticulture crops of seven individuals has been affected due to rain in Kundapur Taluk.
Rainfall data:
Udupi district recorded an average of 44.7 mm. Kaup Taluk recorded the highest rain in the district.
