IMD warns heavy rainfall in Coastal Karnataka districts
Udupi, May 17, 2022: Isolated places in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts are likely to receive heavy rain for the next three days.
IMD issued an alert today. Due to strong wind the fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during the next 24 hours.
Heavy rainfall/Thunderstorm warning:
- Day 1 Valid until 8.30 am of May 18: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka when rainfall shall exceed 115 mm. Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka.
- Day 2 Valid until 8.30 am of May 19: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka when rainfall shall exceed 115 mm. Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka.
- Day 3 Valid until 8.30 am of May 20: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka when rainfall shall exceed 115 mm. Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka.
- Day 4 Valid until 8.30 am of May 21: Heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka when rainfall shall exceed 65 mm. Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka.
- Day 5 Valid until 8.30 am of May 22: Heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka when rainfall shall exceed 65 mm. Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka.
Fisheries Warning: Squally weather with speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail along and off Karnataka coast. Fishermen are advised not to venture into
sea during next 24 hours.
