Srinivas University: Forensic Science department holds national seminar
Mangaluru, March 28, 2022: Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University, in collaboration with Phoenix Screening Services, Bengaluru, organized a National Seminar cum Workshop on “CSI-The Crux of Forensic science.”
More than 300 delegates attended the event held at SIMS & RC Campus, Mukka.
Dr. Vijay Reddy, Managing Director, Phoenix Services Bangalore, was the chief guest.
Dr.CA A Raghavendra Rao, Chancellor, Srinivas University, Dr. A Srinivas Rao inaugurated the workshop.
Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Anil Kumar, Registrar, Dr. Sathya Sai Kumar, Pro Vice-chancellor, Prof. Devaseelan S, Dean, Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Vrinda J Bhat, Professor and Head of Department of Forensic Medicine, SIMS&RC were present.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Department of Forensic Science, Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University, and Phoenix Screening Services, Bengaluru.
Nine key speakers deliberated on various aspects of crime scene investigation.
Dr. GS Venumadhav from Dharwad, Dr. P N Sandeep from Thrissur, Glorita Fernandes from Goa, Kajal Bansal, Bangalore University, Dr. Anup A Kudtharkar, Phoenix Screening Services, Bangalore, Litty Jose, Thrissur, Sashidar ES, , Jain University, Bangalore, Dr. Ishwar Navalgund, Davangere University & Dr. Vrinda J Bhat, SIMS&RC, Mukka spoke on the occasion.
In the afternoon session, there was a hands-on workshop for students on mock crime scene investigation, where the delegates were given information on evidence collection, crime scene management, reconstruction, sketching of the crime scene, and observe various types of crime scene investigation tools such as different types of light sources used in evidence examination, soil examination kit and fingerprint development kit.
