Mangaluru Mayor performs Ganga Puja at Thumbe
Mangaluru, March 22, 2022: Mangaluru Mayor Premananda Shetty has appealed to the citizens to consider alternative sources of water along with the water supplied by the Corporation as there is a possibility of increase in demand for water during summer.
He was speaking after performing ‘Ganga Puja’ at Thumbe dam at on Tuesday.
“The demand for water will increase in the coming months of April and May, during which there is a need to use water sparingly. Due to the high demand for residential and non-residential purpose, the citizens of Mangaluru, Mulki and Ullal can use the water of borewells and wells for domestic use apart from the water supplied by MCC,” the mayor said.
The water available at Thumbe is enough for 2-3 months. Works under Jala Siri project to supply 24/7 water to the City is in progress. The work worth Rs 35 crore under AMRUT-I scheme is likely to be completed in 2-3 months,” he said.
Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation (KEONICS) Chairman Harikrishna Bantwal spoke on the occasion. Deputy Mayor Sumangala Rao, MCC Commissioner Akshy Sridhar, Corporators were present.
