Janashakti Vedike urges Govt to ensure safe return of students from Ukraine
Demands Rs 2 crore compensation for the family members of Harsha
Karwar, March 02: Karwar-based Janashakti Vedike has asked the state government to ensure the safe return of Kannadiga students from Ukraine.
Vedike president Madhav B Nayak has rushed a letter to the Chief Minister and Governor of Karnataka through the Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada in connection to this today. He has also asked the government to help in getting the body of Haveri’s Naveen who was killed in the shelling.
“The Russia-Ukraine crisis has affected hundreds of students from Karnataka who are studying in Ukraine. They are scared and are pleading for help. Various videos are being circulated on social media where the students are seeing requesting help. Some students are alleging that they are not getting enough response from the concerned officials,” Nayak stated in the letter.
He has attached the video clippings with the letter and asked Chief Minister and Governor to intervene.
“Sneha of Mundagod Taluk and other students from our district are stranded in Ukraine. The government should ensure their safe return at the earliest,” he added.
“Naveen of Haveri district had been to Ukraine for Medical education. He was unable to return and had been to the supermarket to purchase foodstuff and was killed in a shelling there. His body should be brought back at the earliest. Rs 2 crore compensation should be paid to the victim’s family,” he said.
