Rear Admiral Atul Anand visits Naval Detachment
Karwar, Feb 26, 2022: Rear Admiral Atul Anand, Flag Officer Commanding Karnataka Naval Area (FOK) visited Naval Detachment Bengaluru and inspected various Naval units/ facilities there.
During his visit, the Flag Officer also called on Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, on Feb 25. He apprised the governor about various operational and administrative activities being undertaken by the Indian Navy in Karnataka and also briefed him on the progress of infrastructure development to expand Naval Base Karwar through Project Seabird Phase II-A.
The Flag Officer brought out details of flood relief and rescue operations undertaken along the Kali river belt last year and SAR operations in the aftermath of cyclone Tauktae. He assured the Governor of the Naval Area’s continued support to the civil administration.
The FOK also called on the Chief Secretary Karnataka, P Ravi Kumar, and held extensive discussions on coastal security, the contribution of Indian Naval Hospital Ship Patanjali in the management of initial COVID-19 patients in Uttara Kannada district, and other areas of cooperation between the Indian Navy and the state administration.
