Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary holds meeting on beggary prevention in Karnataka
Bengaluru, Feb 18, 2022: Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary directed the officials to initiate steps to stop beggary in the state.
He held a meeting with the officials on beggary prevention in the state.
“In the initial stage, children should be prevented from entering beggary. The Women and Child Welfare Deaprtment should take measures. The police department should take the necessary steps if they spot children begging at the traffic signals. In the next step measures should be initiated in stages to stop others and the third gender from begging,” the minister said.
“The aim is to make Bengaluru beggar free city. Institute for Social and Economic Change, Nagarabavi has been given the task of surveying beggars. We will shortly hold a meeting with the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) on completion of the survey at the earliest,” he said.
