Karnataka issues guidelines to private hospitals on bed reservation
Bengaluru, Jan 06, 2022: The state government has issued an order asking the private hospitals to reserve beds for the Covid patients.
The order issued on Jan 4 is about sharing the number of beds in private hospitals and private medical colleges between Government referred and Private patients as per the package rate fixed by the Health and Family Welfare Department.
The orders will come into effect immediately and will be in force until further order.
The said order will be strictly and scrupulously implemented forthwith by Chief Commissioner BBMP, Commissioner-Health and Family Welfare Department, Deputy Commissioners, Chief Executive Officers-ZP, District Health Officers, and other concerned Heads of Departments and Authorities, the order states.
The order states:
- The Private Hospitals and Private Medical College Hospitals will immediately reserve and keep ready 30% beds in each category, ie, ICU, ICU with Ventilator, HDU/Oxygenated, and general beds for treatment of COVID 19 patients referred by the Public Health Authorities.
- The complete quote of 50% beds of each category, ie, ICU, ICU with Ventilator, HDU/Oxygenated and general beds of Private Hospitals to be reserved for treatment of COVID 19 patients referred by the Public Health Authorities in a manner that the beds are free for occupation by 07-01-2022.
- The Private Medical College hospitals will keep ready and reserve beds under each category, i.e, ICU, ICU with Ventilator, HDU/Oxygenated, and general beds for treatment of the Public Health Authorities referred cases up to 50% by 07-01-2022 and up to 75% by 10-01-2022.
- The terms and conditions connected with the treatment of COVID 19 patients in the private hospitals shall be as stipulated in the Health and Family Welfare Department order No.HFW 228 ACS 2020, dated 23-06-2020.
Non-adherence/non-compliance to above orders by any Private Healthcare Providers, Private Medical Colleges will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal action under the relevant section of IPC, and other legal provisions as applicable.
