BJP gets clear majority in Kaup Municipality, SDPI enters with 3 seats
Udupi, Dec 30, 2021: BJP gained a clear majority and Congress suffered a huge loss in Kaup Town Municipal election.
The election was conducted last week and the counting was held today.
In the 23 seat Council, BJP has got a clear majority with 12 seats. Congress got 7 seats, SDPI 3 and JD(S) got one.
In the 2016 elections Congress had won win majority. The party had 12 seats and BJP had 11. While BJP got one seat more than last time, Congress had to suffer a loss of five seats.
SDPI and JD(S) made an entry this time. SDPI grabbed three wards-Mangalapete Gujji and Ahmadi Mohalla. JDS won the Kombugudde ward.
District BJP president Kuyilady Suresh Nayak expressed happiness over the achievement of the BJP and defined it as a historic victory.
“We will fulfill the promises made in the manifesto like- drinking water facility and drainage system,” he said.
