Free heart checkup camp held at St Mary’s College
Shirva, Dec 29, 2021: A Free heart checkup camp was held at St Mary’s College, Shirva today.
The camp was organized by Lions Club Shirva, St Mary’s College, St Mary’s PU College Alumni Association, Sthri Sanghatane Shirva, Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal.
“Everybody should concentrate on their health. We have seen present lifestyles and junk food creating health issues. There is a need for a regular health checkup. The camp is a step towards this,” St Mary’s Group of Institutions Correspondent Very Rev Fr Alexander Denis D’Sa said after inaugurating the camp.
Dr Gosavi Siddhanth Senior Resident Physician, KMC Manipal spoke about the importance of heart and the checkup camp. He asked people to take care of their heart by involving in activities like swimming, cycling, joggging, walking to ensure healthy mind and healthy body.
Melwin Noronha, President, St Mary’s College alumni association, George Anil D’Souza, President, Lions Club Shirva, Jyothi D’Souza, president Sthri Sanghatane, Shirva, Mathias Lobo, Secretary, PU College Alumni Association, Yashodha, Students Welfare Officer, Lt K Praveen Kumar, NCC Officer, Premanath Kotian, NSS officer, Raksha, Rovers Rangers leaders Prakash, Sangeetha Poojary, Vittal Nayak, Convener, Youth Red Cross were present.
About 80 people made use of the camp.
Cadet senior under officer Vishal S Moolya, Cadet Senior Under Officer Harshitha, Company Sergeant Quartermaster Mohith N Salyan, Corporal Dheeraj Acharya, NSS volunteers Vaishnavi, Minaz, Sinchana, Shreyas, Mohammed Aghnan, Rovers volunteer Daril and the college staff helped in organizing the camp.
Principal Dr. Herald Ivan Monis welcomed, Charles Mohan Noronha delivered the vote of thanks. Former president of Shirva Lions Club Norbert Machado compered the program.
