Karnataka directs districts to increase Covid testing
Udupi, Nov 27, 2021: Following clusters of Covid 19 cases reported in few districts of the state, the government has decided to strengthen surveillance. The state has therefore decided to increase testing.
The state government has issued a fresh circular related to revised testing. As per the new circular, the number has been increased from the existing 8,000 testing per day to 10,000 in Dakshina Kannada. It has been increased from existing 3,000 to 4,000 in Udupi.
The government has decided to continue the targeted testing of cases of ILI, SARI, contacts of positive cases, and high risk, groups.
The fortnightly random testing of selected groups including:
- Students and Teachers in colleges and high schools
- The staff of hotels and restaurant
- Shop keepers of malls
- Shop keepers in markets
- Catering staff and door delivery personnel
- Factory personnel
- Office goers
- Service staff in pubs and bars
- Attendants in cinema halls and multiplexes
- Others who are in crowds by vocation.
