SDPI’s Shafi Bellare files nomination

Mangaluru, Nov 23, 2021: The election for the Dakshina Kannada Local Authorities’ Constituency is likely to get interesting with the Social Democratic Party of India fielding its candidate.

For the first time, SDPI is contesting the seat. SDPI has a good number of seats in Panchayats and Municipalities of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district. Over the years the party has gained popularity in the region.

Political experts feel the election would be a platform for the SDPI to show its strength if the party takes this election seriously.

Party candidate Shafi Bellare filed his nomination at Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner’s office today morning.
He was accompanied by SDPI Udupi district president Nazeer Ahmed, DK District vice president Vicor Martis, DK district secretary Akbar Belthangady, Shakir Alakemajalu.

Later speaking to reporters Shafi Bellare said that he was contesting as the voice of the elected representatives of the local bodies.

He said SDPI considered both BJP and Congress as equal competitors.
