Mangaluru, Nov 07, 2021: Dakshina Kannada police have recovered five hand grenades at Ilanthila of Belthangady Taluk.

On Saturday evening Jayakumar Poojary, an ex-serviceman, who is settled at Ilanthila found five objects resembling hand grenades near the barbed wire fence of his house. He intimated the police who visited the spot and found it to be hand grenade.

“The grenades have been recovered. They are all about 40 years old. They were manufactured in the Ordnance factory. A case under Arms Act has been registered. We will now probe the case from all angles and find how the grenades reached this place,” Dakshina Kannada SP Rishikesh Bhagwan Sonawane told reporters.

During the investigation, the police are likely to seek more details from the Ordnance and Army officials.
