Mangaluru police arrest right wing activist
Mangaluru, Sept 19, 2021: Acting quickly against the provocative and threatening statement, Mangaluru Police arrested Hindu outfit activist Dharmendra on Sunday.
Dharmendra, who claimed to be the state general secretary of Akhil Bharath Hindu Mahasabha along with his supporters had held a press conference on Saturday where he had allegedly made some provocative statement.
A complaint was filed by Hindu Mahasabha state president Lohith Kumar Suvarna at Barke Police Station.
In the complaint, Lohith has stated that Dharmendra, Prem Polali, Kamalaksha Padil, Sudhakar Shetty, Praveen Shetty, and Ullas attended the press conference and misused Hindu Mahasabha’s name.
“In the press conference, Dharmendra had condemned the demolition of temples and also attacked the BJP government which had come to power in the name of Hindutva. He had defined this move as a vote bank politics to appease Muslims,” the complaint said.
“Dharmendra also had said that when Gandhiji was not spared there was no need to think about Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, and endowment minister Shashikala Jolle. Though this statement Dharmendra threatened the three leaders,” the complaint added.
Lohith Kumar had come to Mangaluru four days ago to file a complaint with the police as the organization had found the Dharmendra and his team who were already suspended were misusing the name of Hindu Mahasabha.
Following the complaint, the police had registered a case against eight people under Section 120(B): Punishment of Criminal Conspiracy, 153(A): Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc, 505(2): Statement Conducing to public mischief, 506: Punishment of criminal Intimidation, 465: Punishment for forgery, 468: Forgery for purpose of cheating, 469: Forgery for purpose of harming reputation, 149: Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offense committed in prosecution of the common object.
Police arrested Dharmendra on Sunday. Rajesh, Prem, and Sandeep have been taken to custody.
