Boy scores poor marks, hangs self
Udupi, Aug 23, 2021: An engineering student committed suicide by hanging at his house in Byndoor Taluk on August 22, reportedly due to poor marks in a subject.
Police said the boy Shashank (21) of Bijoor village in Byndoor taluk was an engineering student. He was dejected after he failed in a subject. Though his parents advised him, he continued to be silent.
On August 22 he along with his mother, father and sister had been to a function at Navunda. But Shashank told his parents that he wanted to go home. He took the keys and returned home. When his parents came home they found the door open. Inside the house, they found Shashank had hanged himself.
Though the parents immediately shifted him to the Community Health Center, the doctors there declared him dead.
The FIR states that Shashank had committed suicide for scoring poor marks in a subject. The incident is said to have taken place between 2 pm and 3 pm.
An Unnatural Death Report (UDR) is registered at Byndoor Police Station under 174 section of CrPC.
