Freedom movement: Ubaradka Mittur to get heritage village tag
Udupi, Aug 15, 2021: Ubaradka Mittur in Sullia is all set to get the heritage village tag for its contribution to the freedom movement.
Minister for Energy, Kannada, and Culture Sunil Kumar told this during his independence day speech at Udupi on Sunday.
“Participating in the freedom movement many people laid their life at Ubaradka Mittur village. The village will be developed as a heritage village. The government will construct a memorial there,” Sunil Kumar said.
Sunil Kumar assured to work towards including Tulu language in the 8th schedule and special encouragement to Yakshagana.
An expert committee would be formed to frame a policy for Kannada and Culture department. A new policy will be evolved based on the committee’s recommendations.
Speaking on the power sector, he said the stress is on environment-friendly power generation.
“We aim to make energy ministry customers, farmers, and businessmen friendly. We want every house in the state to have electricity,” he said.
Twenty-two Corona warriors, Taskforce presidents, and PDOs of Sanoor, Siddapura, and Palimar Panchayat were felicitated for their exemplary work during the pandemic. Heads of District Government Hospital and Kasturba Hospital Manipal were felicitated for their service under Arogya Karnataka. Solid Waste Management vehicles were handed over to eight Panchayats.
Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, Coastal Development Authority president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, Udupi Development Authority Raghavendra Kini, Municipal president Sumitra Nayak, DC G Jagadeesh, ZP CEO Dr. Naveen Bhat, SP Vishnuvardhan, Coastal Security Police (CSP) SP Nikhil Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu were present.
