Various programs mark Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Karwar Naval Base
Joy of Giving Week’ commenced on August 3
Karwar, Aug 14, 2021: Karwar Naval base is bustling with activities. Series of programs are being held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence- “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
‘Joy of Giving Week’ was held on the occasion. The unique and novel initiative commenced on August 3.
It aimed to engage in acts of giving and to involve every section of the society through acts of giving- charity, time, skills, and even Shramdaan- at Raghavendra, Asha Niketan, and Saraswati shelter homes/ schools at Karwar.
Blood donation by 75 Personnel at Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences was also held as part of the program.
The crew of Indian Naval Ship Vikramaditya donated over 4 Lakh rupees. It was utilized for buying essential items for three Schools in Uttara Kannada.
Capability enhancement of Raghavendra Residential School for Special Children and Old Age Home, Yellapur was undertaken by providing 25 beds and essential commodities. Heads of all three institutions and teachers lauded the efforts and initiatives undertaken by the ship.
The ship conducted ‘Mission 75 X 75’ wherein 75 hours of Shramdaan is being rendered by 75 personnel to beautify and paint Asha Niketan School for the hearing impaired in Karwar and also installed a solar water heater.
Other activities that were conducted included a plantation drive of 75 saplings in the base and cleaning of 7.5 Km of the Beach stretch by 75 personnel. In keeping with the Fit India Campaign, 750 personnel participated in a 7.5 Km Run on August 7.
The celebrations were undertaken with due regard to Covid-19 appropriate behavior.
