Manipal, Aug 14, 2021: Kasturba Hospital, Manipal will observe National Feet Day on August 17.

A program with the theme ‘I prevent amputation,’ is organized by Centre for Diabetic Foot Care and Research in association with Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Indian Podiatry Association.

Lt. Gn. (Dr.) M.D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor, MAHE, Dr.Sharath Rao K- Dean, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Dr.Avinash Shetty- Medical Superintendent Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, Dr. G Arun Maiya- Dean, MCHP and Chief- Centre for Diabetic Foot Care and Research, Dr APS Suri, National President, Indian Podiatry Association will highlight the need for early screening of foot to prevent complications.

On this occasion free foot screening will be conducted to public. Comprehensive foot assessment will be done at Diabetic Foot Clinic, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal for people with diabetes mellitus which will include neuropathy, vascular and musculoskeletal and ulcer evaluation.

Free foot care education and footwear counselling will be given. Free podicare will be provided for those who have callus or ingrown nail.

The screening will be done with appointment and COVID appropriate precautions will be taken.
