Vanamahotsava at St Mary’s College
Shirva, July 22, 2021: Saplings of fruit-bearing trees were planted at St Mary’s College, Shirva on the occasion of the ‘Hasirininda Usiru-Vanamahotsava’ program today.
The program was organized by Green Teachers Forum, NCC, NSS, Youth Red Cross, Rovers, and Rangers.
St. Mary’s and Don Bosco Institution correspondent Very Rev. Fr Dennis Alexander D’Sa symbolically inaugurated the program. Saplings of Sapota, Guava and Cherry were planted on the occasion.
College Principal Dr. Herald Ivan Monis who spoke on the occasion stressed the importance of environmental protection.
“Protecting our environment is the duty of everyone. We should discharge this duty without fail,” he said and appreciated the organizers of the program.
College Students Welfare Officer and Green Teachers Forum Convener Yashoda gave a brief introduction about the significance of the program.
NCC Officer Lieutenant K. Praveen Kumar, NSS Program Officer Raksha, Rover and Ranger Leader Sangeetha Poojary, Youth Red Cross Convener Murali, Teachers, and Non-teaching staff were present. NSS Officer Premnath delivered the vote of thanks. Rovers Scout Leader Prakash compered the program.
