Dr Somashekara Bhat appointed as the Joint Director of MIT, Manipal.

Manipal, June 24, 2021: Dr. Somashekara Bhat, Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering took charge as the Joint Director of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) on June 21.

Dr. Somashekara Bhat hails from Santoor, near Udupi. He did his BTech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (1990) from NMAMIT Nitte, MTech in Industrial Electronics (1993) from erstwhile KREC Surathkal, and Ph.D. (2008) from IIT Madras.

He started his career as an academician at NMAMIT, Nitte in 1990. He joined Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal in 1995 as a Lecturer and since then is serving the institute in various academic and administrative capacities.

Dr. Bhat was instrumental in setting up National MEMS Design Center in the Electrical and Communication Engineering department at MIT, Manipal.

He has more than 25 Journal publications and 40 conference publications to his credit.

He has served as In-charge, Continuing Education and Student Counselling, MIT Manipal, Head, Department of ECE, MIT Manipal, IP Chair at MAHE, Member of Ph.D. Proposal Approval Committee, MAHE, and Committee member for NEP-2020 implementation at MAHE.

Vice-Chancellor, MAHE, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh, Registrar, MAHE, Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Director, MIT Dr. Srikanth Rao, and the outgoing Joint Director Dr. BHV Pai congratulated Dr. Somashekar Bhat on his appointment.
