Covid: ‘Call For Test’ in Mangaluru City Corporation
Mangaluru, June 09, 2021: In a major initiative to increase Covid testing in its limits, Mangaluru City Corporation will kickstart ‘Call for Test.’
MCC will set up a dedicated number where the contacts of Covid patients, people with symptoms, or who want to get themselves tested can call. The mobile swab collection units of MCC will visit the caller and collect the swab.
Already six vehicles are reserved for this. However, if the demand increases, MCC plans to increase the number of vehicles.
The decision to start this project was taken during the meeting held at Mangaluru City Corporation today.
The meeting comprising the medical officers of PHCs, Nodal officers, and officials from the health department was held today. It was headed by Mangaluru Mayor Premanand Shetty and Commissioner Akshy Sridhar.
The meeting was to chalk out plans to increase Covid testing and thereby decrease the Covid cases and positivity rate in the City Corporation limits.
There are 1,226 active cases in Mangaluru City Corporation limits and two wards with over 50 active cases. The positivity rate is 17 percent.
At the meeting, the Commissioner stressed the testing of the primary contacts.
Meanwhile, the Mangaluru City Corporation officials who continued the raid on Covid violation booked 121 cases and imposed a fine of ₹ 61,150. Of these, the license of seven shops has been temporarily suspended.
