World Environment day, Vanamahotsav at Expert Campus
Mangaluru, June 6, 2021: Expert P.U. College Valachil campus observed World Environment Day on Saturday.
‘Vanamahotsav-2021‘ was also celebrated on the occasion in the presence of Range Forest Officer P Sridhar and other officials from the department.
Prof. Narendra L. Nayak, Chairman, Expert Group of Institutions, and Dr. Ushaprabha N. Nayak, Vice-Chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions planted the saplings.
“We have created ideal conditions for pathogens like coronavirus to spread and we can counter the climate change and collapse of biodiversity only with healthy ecosystems,” Prof. Nayak said.
He added that the pandemic has shown how disastrous the consequences of ecosystem loss can be.
Dr. Ushaprabha N. Nayak stressed the need for keeping the campus green and how the present pandemic situation has made it a necessity.
P Sridhar lauded the efforts of the management in creating a healthy and green campus.
The existing lockdown did not cause any impediments to the students. They made it a greater event by planting saplings in their gardens at home and shared videos of the same.
Ustad Rafique Khan, trustee; Ankush N. Nayak, Director Information Technology, Expert Group of InstitutionsRaghavendra Shenoy, Vice Principal; Gurudath N, H.O.D. Hindi and Rajesh, Unit Manager of Spices and Chefs were present on the occasion.
