Fire at KSWAN conference hall in Karwar
Karwar, June 05, 2021: Computers, furniture, and fixtures of the Karnataka State Wide Area Network (KSWAN) conference hall at Karwar were gutted in fire on Saturday morning.
There have been no casualties or damage to the documents in the building.
The personnel of the Zilla Panchayat officials noticed smoke in the building on Saturday morning and immediately informed the fire department.
The fire officials led by District Fire officer Manjunath H Sali immediately plunged into action.
The fire office received information about the fire around 8.45 and immediately fire tender and offices rushed to the spot.
The KSWAN conference hall on the ground floor is a closed room as it is used for video conferencing. The fire officials noticed that the smoke had spread to the first and second floor also. A fireman wearing a fire proximity suit entered the building and ensured ventilation by breaking open the windows.
Officials said all the computers, tables and chairs, and other fixtures were completely gutted.
