Udupi: 10 beds to be reserved in District Hospital for Mucormycosis patients
Udupi, May 24, 2021: District In-charge Minister Basavaraj Bommai has directed the Udupi district officials to reserve 10 beds at the District Hospital for the Mucormycosis (Black Fungus) patients.
He was presiding over the review meeting through Video Conference today.
One has died due to black fungus in Udupi district. A patient has been shifted to District Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for treatment. To ensure the patients get treatment in Udupi district, 10 beds should be reserved at the district hospital,” the minister said assuring to provide all the medicine needed for the treatment at the earliest. As patients come from other districts to Udupi for treatment, additional medicines will be sent.
The Minister asked the officials to provide the Covid test result within 24 hours as quick detection would help prevent the spread.
“The patients can be provided treatment soon and the number of serious cases will decrease,” he said. He also asked the officials to conduct a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on the Secondary contacts of the Covid patients as it would help in detecting the cases at an early stage.
Rural Taskforce to be more active:
Bommai stressed the need for the rural task force to be more active. While visiting the patients’ houses, the team should compulsorily carry a pulse oximeter. The patients with less than 93 percent should be shifted to the hospital. Those between 93 and 95 percent can be sent to Covid Care Centers,” he added.
The minister asked the Deputy Commissioner and ZP CEO to visit the villages with Covid patients and also conduct Video Conference with the 5 PDOs and related Tahsildar to supervise the situation.
