Opposition to institutional isolation to be dealt sternly: Udupi DC
Udupi, May 21, 2021: Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has warned the Covid patients who resist being shifted to Covid Care Centers.
As per the government norms, the asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic need not be shifted to the hospital. They can be under home isolation or institutional isolation. Those who do not have proper facilities for home isolation will be recommended by the officials to be shifted to institutional isolation at Covid Care Centers (CCC).
But the Udupi district administration has noted people resisting when the officials recommend institutional isolation.
“If the Health authorities, ward taskforce, or village task force find a person does not have proper facilities at home for isolation, they will recommend institutional isolation (CCC). Strict action under the provisions of Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act and National Disaster Management Act 2005 will be initiated if the district administration finds anybody opposing or resisting this,” Udupi DC G Jagadeesh warned.
“When there are no facilities for isolation at home and when people oppose institutional isolation and want to remain at home there are more possibilities of the virus spreading in the family. This will increase the Covid cases. Finally, this may lead to a shortage of beds and facilities,” the Deputy Commissioner warned.
