Govt issues circular on online classes for Colleges
Bengaluru, May 21, 2021: The state government has allowed Universities and Colleges to continue their online classes.
While holding remaining exams of old semesters and beginning of offline classes will be reviewed once the Covid situation eases, all universities have been requested to adhere to the SOPs given in this regard.
The circular states that the Universities and Colleges shall continue online classes for all the even semesters of UG programmes. Starting of offline classes will be reviewed once the Covid situation eases.
Even those Universities and Colleges who have not completed Odd Semester Examinations of UG programmes, shall continue Online classes for the Even Semesters (II, IV, VI and VIII), as there is carryover system in most of the programmes. The remaining examinations of Odd Semesters of UG programmes can be conducted/scheduled once the Covid situation eases.
In cases where there are some restrictions on carry over to higher semesters, may be in Engineering and some Professional Courses, the Vice Chancellors/Principals are advised to work out the details in consultation with the Karnataka State Higher Education Council.
Regarding the Postgraduate programmes, admission processes for the First Semesters were delayed in some Universities due to Covid situation. But the Third Semester Classes have been completed in many of the Universities. In some Universities examinations had started. Therefore, in respect of PG programmes, in Universities where classes of Odd semester are completed and only examinations are pending, they shall continue online classes for Even Semesters. The examinations of Odd Semesters can be conducted/scheduled once the Covid-19 situation eases.
In Universities where Odd Semesters Classes are not completed, they shall continue the classes onlinis. Once the Odd Semester Classes are completed, it the Covid situation still persists for some time, making it difficult to conduct examinations of Odd Semesters, they shall start online classes for Even Semesters, immediately after the completion of Odd Semester Classes. Examination of Odd Semester Classes can be conducted/scheduled once the Covid situation eases.
As and when things develop, the situation will be reviewed, Guidelines and Schedules will be worked out in consultation with the Vice Chancellors and the Karnataka State Higher Education Council for implementation in all the Colleges and Universities.
All the Universities are requested to strictly adhere to the Guidelines issued (SOPS) in this regard and also guide their affiliated colleges.
