SDPI wants government to fulfill land surveyors’ demands
Mangaluru, April 15, 2021: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has urged the government to fulfill the demands of the protesting land surveyors and thereby help the public.
“Land surveyors are on protest. As part of the protest, they are not attending the office due to which the common man, farmers, and coolie are facing the problem, SDPI district general secretary Sahul Hameed told reporters at Mangaluru today.
“The state government should fulfill the demand of these surveyors who are working for two decades and provide them justice. About 2000 surveyors are working for 17 years. Instead of making them permanent employees, the state government has decided to newly appoint 2,000 surveyors. Though there were efforts to make them permanent during the term of Siddaramaiah government, it was kept in cold storage due to various reasons,” he said.
While there is a demand for about 20 surveyors in every taluk, there are only 5-7 at present. Others are working on a temporary basis and are now participating in the protest.
“On an average, about 30-40 people submit applications related to land survey every day. Due to the protesting surveyors, the applications are pending. The common man who is already hit by COVID and lockdown is now facing problem due to this protest,” he added.
The SDPI leaders asked the revenue department to take the issue seriously and solve the problem.
“If the government fails then SDPI will take up a massive campaign in the district,” he warned.
District Secretaries Anwar Sadat, Jamal Jokatte, and Sajipa Nadu gram panchayat member Nasir Sajipa were present at the press meet.
