Customs seize gold worth ₹ 39.48 lakh from a couple
Mangaluru, March 28, 2021: In yet another major operation at Mangaluru Airport, the officials of Mangalore Air Customs have caught a woman and her husband for trying to smuggle gold worth ₹ 39.48 lakh.
On March 27 evening one Fousiya Missiriya Moideen Kunhi (33) along with her husband Moideen Kunhi Cheroor (44) and 4 children came from Dubai on an Air India flight.
They hail from Cheroor of Kasargod in Kerala state.
Officials said that Fousiya in connivance with her husband tried to smuggle gold by concealing in her specially designed inner garment. Officials seized gold of net weight 851 grams valued at Rs 39.48 lakhs. Further investigation is in progress.
The team: The operation was led by Deputy Commissioner Avinash Kiran Rongali. The crucial role of surveillance and interception was executed by Superintendents Manokatyayani, Shrikanth, and Nagesh.
