Former Uttara Kannada DC Dr Harish Kumar to lead Karnataka COVID management task force
Karwar, March 21, 2021: Considering his dedication and teamwork in tackling COVID in Uttara Kannada, the state government has appointed former Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada Dr. K Harish Kumar as the State Nodal Officer for COVID-19 surveillance, supervision, and management.

Dr. Harish Kumar who served as DC of Uttara Kannada was on February 13 posted as the Commissioner, Employment and Training, Bengaluru. Now he has been given extra charge considering his success in COVID management.
Despite the district not having a sophisticated hospital, Dr. Harish Kumar’s teamwork had succeeded in controlling COVID. He had also managed lockdown effectively taking various innovative measures to help the people.
Uttara Kannada succeeded to record the least number of positive as well as death among the three coastal districts. The testing rate had received appreciation from the health minister.
Now when the state is witnessing the second wave, the government has appointed officials to control and monitor COVID-related work.
Tushar Girinath (Principal Secretary of Urban Development) and Meenakshi Negi (Additional Principal Forest Conservator) have been appointed as the Nodal officer for Apthamitra helpline, C Shikha (MD, BMTC) as the state nodal officer related to COVID-19 at Bengaluru International Airport.
