Dattatreya Hosabale elected RSS Sarkaryawah
New Delhi, March 20, 2021: Dattatreya Hosabale has been elected as the Sarkaryawah (General Secretary) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He replaces Suresh Bhayyaji Joshi.
RSS posted this decision taken at the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha on its official twitter handle. The ABPS is being held in Bengaluru.
Sixty five year old Dattatreya Hosabale is serving as the Sah-Sarakaryavaah (Joint General Secretary) of the RSS since 2009.
He hails from Sorab in Shivamogga district in Karnataka. A PG degree holder in English literature, Dattatreya was active in ABVP and served as the general secretary for 15 years. He played an active role in the formation of the Youth Development Centre in Guwahati.
He was arrested under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) and was put behind bars for 16 months.
In 2004 he rose to the post of Sah-Baudhik Pramukh and later as the Sah-Sarakaryavaah.
