‘A specially designed’ innerwear for smuggling gold!
Mangaluru, March 13, 2021: Officers of Mangaluru Air Customs intercepted a passenger and seized gold worth 33.75 lakh concealed in his innerwear.
Officials said that the 45-year-old Koppa Mammini Khalid from Koppa of Kerala had landed at Mangaluru Airport from Dubai. He allegedly tried to smuggle gold by concealing it in his specially designed innerwear.
Gold of net weight 737 grams valued at ₹ 33,75,470 lakhs was seized. Further investigation is in progress.
The operation was led by Deputy Commissioner Avinash Kiran Rongali. The crucial role of surveillance and interception was executed by Superintendent rank officials Bhomkar, Rakesh Kumar, and Bikram Chakraborty.
