Improve play area, plant saplings instead of fencing Tagore beach- Madhav Nayak
Karwar, Dec 30, 2020: Janashakthi Vedike president and social activist Madhav Nayak has asked the district administration to give a facelift to the children’s play area at Ravindranath Tagore beach in Karwar instead of spending the money on fencing the beach.
“The district administration planned to build a compound wall but later decided to put up a fence. We strongly oppose this as there is no need for fencing. The iron fence would last only for months as it would naturally corrode due to the saltwater,” Madhav Nayak said.
“Because of Project Sea Bird, about 18 km is already covered with huge compound wall and we are unable to see the seashore. The only stretch left is the Tagore Park,” he said.
“If the government wants to do something let it plant saplings instead of a fence. Let the same ₹ 30 lakh kept aside for fencing be used to develop the children’s’ play area on the beach. The sitting arrangements too can be improved. We will shortly submit a memorandum and are hopeful that the district administration would listen to our suggestion,” he added.
