Conserving plants to pay tribute to Sri Vishwesha Tirtha
Udupi, Dec 17, 2020: The first death anniversary of Sri Vishwesha Tirtha Sripadaru of Pejawara Matha was observed uniquely by his disciples in Udupi.
Sri Vishwesha Tirtha Sripadaru had a great love for nature. Sripadaru had spearheaded the fight against pollution in coastal Karnataka and also other places.
He had planted saplings in various places on different occasions that have over the years grown to trees.
While religion programs were being held at his Moola Vrindavana (the place where he was interred) in Sri Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha – Bengaluru, his disciples in Udupi decided to observe the first anniversary of Sripadaru uniquely.
The saplings at Muchlkod Sri Subrahmanya Temple, Karamballi Sri Venkataramana Temple, Kodavoor Shri Shankarnarayana Temple, and Ananda Teertha Vidyalaya of Pajaka were identified.
His disciples got a platform constructed around these trees, decorated it with flowers to commemorate the first anniversary of Seers’ death.
“Sripadaru had a great love for nature. So we thought of observing his death anniversary in this manner. A stone engraving with Sripadaru’s name and the date which he had planted sapling will be installed in all these places shortly,” Vasudeva Bhat Perampalli, who had organized the program said.
He specially thanked MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, Ramesh Barittaya, Vagisha, Githa Shashidhar, Roopa Ballal (of Anandateertha Vidyalaya), Ramakrishna Tanantri, Rajashekhar Hebbar (of Muchlakod), and Kodavoor Shri Shankarnarayana Temple trustee Janardhan Kodavoor.
