Udupi administration to prepare feasibility report for Padukare Marina
Udupi, Dec 16, 2020: Creation of Marina at Padukare beach has gained momentum with the district administration deciding to get a feasible report prepared.
“Padukare coast has natural islands. If breakwater of about 1.66 km to 2 kms is constructed then a Marina of 3.69 km can be created. CWPRS will be asked to prepare a feasible report. Later a Detailed Project Repot (DPR) can be prepared,” Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh said during a meeting held at Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday.
He said that the work can be undertaken through the Coastal Development Authority (CDA).
Jagadeesh said that there is no full fledged Marina in the entire country and if it is constructed at Padukare it would be identified in the global map. The Marina will also contribute for employment generation and attract tourists.
Various types of Yacht and small boats can dock here. It can also house floating hotels, restaurants and stalls.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat said that if the feasible report and Detailed Project Report (DPR) are prepared by February, steps can be taken to get necessary permission in the forthcoming budget.
CDA chairman Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu and officials were present at the meeting.
