SDPI demands withdrawal of Anti-Cow slaughter bill
Party State general secretary Afsar Kodlipet asks Dalits, Minorities and other likeminded people to shed party differences and fight against the bill
Mangaluru, Dec 10, 2020:
Defining the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill 2020 passed in the assembly yesterday as anti-farmer, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has demanded the withdrawal of the bill.
While SDPI has blamed the BJP for passing the bill it has also expressed unhappiness against Congress for staging a walkout instead of opposing it in the assembly.
“This is an anti-farmer, anti-people bill and should be withdrawn immediately,” SDPI State general secretary Afsar Kodlipet demanded.
SDPI has condemned the ban on the slaughter of various animals used as food. “It will financially hit the farmers who are into animal husbandry. This is also an attack on the right to food of Dalits and Minorities. People know that the export of beef continues during the BJP regime,” he said in a press statement.
He called the Dalits, Minorities, and likeminded people to shed party differences and join hands in the fight against this bill.
SDPI has also expressed unhappiness over the failure of Congress leaders in opposing the bill.
“Instead of opposing the bill at the session by showing the anti-farmer elements in it, the Congress leaders staged a walkout. This is nothing but misguiding the people,” he added.
