Govt’s initiative to make land conversion easy
Departments to submit opinion within 15 days and Deputy Commissioner to clear within 30 days under Affidavit Based Conversion system
Karwar, Dec 09: Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar K has asked the people to make use of the Affidavit Based Conversion system initiated by the government.
He said it would help the farmers and landowners who want to apply for land conversion as all the departments have to submit their opinion within 15 days and the Deputy Commissioner has to clear it in 30 days.
The word ‘conversion,’ sends shivers down the spines of the people as they fear running from pillar to post in the government offices or end up paying huge amounts to the middlemen to get the work done.
What is this system:
To help the poor farmers and landowners to get their land converted the government has come up with the Affidavit Based Conversion system. Once the applicant applies for land conversion all the departments had to submit their opinion within 30 days and the DC had to give his order by 60 days. Now it has been decreased to 15 days and 30 days respectively.
“The technology-based system is completely transparent and based on documents and opinion of the departments and there is no room for any human interference,” the DC told The Canara Post.
To ensure that the conversion order is free of mistakes, it is mandatory to submit the 11E sketch for the partial survey numbers.
The DC has sent a circular to all the department heads to submit their opinion within 15 days. In case of objection, they have been asked to submit an explanation.
