Husband, Mother In Law booked on charge of dowry harassment
Udupi, Nov 26 2020: Gangolli police have registered a dowry harassment case against one Natesh Vishnu Kharvi and his mother.
Anitha Kharvi of Gangolli had married Natesh Kharvi of Manki-Uttara Kannada district on April 18, 2012, at Sri Mahaganapathi Temple in Trasi. As per the demand of the boy and his family members, Anitha’s family members had given ₹2 lakh and 15 sovereign gold as dowry.
Natesh along with his Mother In law Neela Kharvi repeatedly demanded more dowry and harassed her and also threatened her. They finally put Anitha out of the house.
Anitha then went to her parents’ house at Gangolli and is residing there. Natesh meanwhile had come to Anitha’s parents’ house and threatened her.
She filed a complained based on which the police have registered a case under IPC Section 498 (A) (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (Criminal intimidation) and 34 (Common intention) along with Section 3 and 4 of Dowry Prevention Act.
