Police arrest three accused in robbery case
Mangaluru, Nov 09: The Uppinangady police have arrested three persons in connection to the robbery and assault on an arecanut trader.
On October 27, Deepak J Shetty, an arecanut trader was waylaid at Pajekodi of Bantwal Taluk when he was returning home. The robbers had stabbed him and took ₹3.50 lakh cash, a gold chain weighing 1.5 sovereigns, and a mobile phone.
The police who began the investigation have now arrested three persons in connection to the case.
The three are- Afreed (22) of Sajipa Padu, Zuraiz (20) of Somvarpet, and Mohammed Tamzil (22) of Badagabellur village, Bantwal.
The police officials have seized the two-wheeler, a knife, mobiles, and ₹41,000 cash.
Police said that the accused had hatched a proper plan. While the two had come in the two-wheeler to stop and attack the trader, one of the accused had kept an eye on the movement.
Police are in search of the remaining two accused.

The police team included CPI Umesh Uppalike, PSI Irayya, Head Constable Harischandra, and Constables Irshad, Jagadish Attaje, Sampath of District Computer Cell, H C Devadas of Bantwal Traffic station, and officials from Uppinangady and Puttur Circle office.
