Mangaluru, Oct 10: Sri Mangaladevi Shobhayatre Samithi has asked the district administration to allow the token performance of Hulivesha Nartana Seve (Tiger Dance) during Ratotsavam of Sri Mangaladevi and Sri Mariamma Temples.

The district Dharmika Parishad which met last week had set up guidelines for the celebrations of Dasara and Deepavali. The Parishad had banned Hulivesha during Dasara and crackers during Deepavali.

Addressing reporters on Saturday Dilraj Alva said that the Dasara without Hulivesha is like Mysuru Dasara without Jambu Savari.

Samithi headed by Dilraj Alva met the Deputy Commissioner Dr. K V Rajendra and submitted a memorandum on October 8.

He said that the proposal is to hold Huli vesha during the Dasara Shobhayatra just as a seva and not as entertainment. The Hulivesha teams have agreed to a term that one or two members from each team would perform before God.

The DC has assured to place the issue before the meeting on October 13.
