Suresh Angadi passes away
Bengaluru, Sept 23: Union Minister of State for Railways, Suresh Angadi breathed his last on Wednesday.
Angadi tested COVID positive last week and was under treatment at the hospital in New Delhi. On Wednesday he died at AIIMS.
Early life and career:
Born on January 1, 1955, to Channabasappa Angadi and Somawwa at KK Koppa, he was educated at SSS Samiti College of Commerce, Belagavi, and R L Law College, Belagavi.
He was a businessman and an educationist. He was the chairman of the Suresh Angadi Education Foundation- Belagavi.
Political Career:
Suresh Angadi’s active political career began in 1996 when he was chosen as the Vice President of Belagavi district BJP. He held the post till 1999. In 2000 he became the executive member of the Chamber of Commerce and in 2001 was elevated to the position of Belagavi district BJP president.
In 2004 he entered the 14th Lok Sabha and became the member of the Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and also consultative committee.
He won again in 2009 served as a member of the Standing Committee on Human Resource Development and Joint Committee on Pension Salaries and Allowances of MPs.
In 2014 he made a hat-trick by entering the parliament for the third time.
A senior MP, he was made a member of the House Committee, Committee on petitions, standing committee on defense, and also consultative committee. He also had served as the Chairperson of House Committee, Lok Sabha.
After winning the 2019 election for the fourth consecutive time, Suresh Angadi entered Modi 2.0 cabinet.
He was given the portfolio of Minister of State in Railway Ministry.
