Meet little Shivani from Dharmasthala
Dharmasthala, Aug 31: The temple town of Dharmasthala was was in celebration mood on Monday.
The ‘guest,’ of the day was dressed up and ready for the program. As ‘she,’ walked here and there, people thronged to click a photo of her. Some even tried to see if they could click a selfie from a distance.
People were celebrating the naming ceremony of the elephant calf born last month. Looking her activity itself was a great interest for the people who had gathered at Dharmasthala.
Lakshmi, the elephant of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala had delivered on July 1.
From day one the calf attracted the attention of the people and had turned apple of the eye. Her naughty activities, playing with her mother and in the sand had gone viral on social media.
On Monday too she was ‘busy.’ running from one place to another, hiding behind her mother’s legs and sometimes playing with the people gathered there.
It was a special day for the young elephant on Monday as it was her naming ceremony.
On Monday morning, in the auspicious Tula Lagnam, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D Veerendra Heggade gave the prasadam to the young elephant and declared her name as ‘Shivani.’
Dr Heggade’s granddaughter Manya, who was present on the occasion declared the name to the audience.
Sri Mohanadasa Swamiji of Sri Dhama Manila Kshetra felicitated Krishna, the Mahut of the elephant.
Hemavathi V Heggade, D Harshendra Kumar, Supriya Harshendra Kumar, SDME Society secretary Dr. B Yashovarma, Sonia Yashovarma, Amit, Shraddha, Veeru V Shetty, P Lakshminarayana Rao, and others were present on the occasion.
