Coastal Karnataka to experience extremely heavy rain
Mangaluru, Aug 05: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has continued the red alert with a forecast of extremely heavy rain at isolated places in all the three Coastal Karnataka districts till Thursday morning.
Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada have been receiving heavy rainfall accompanied by strong wind since Monday evening.
In the forecast, IMD has warned rainfall most likely at many places with heavy to extremely very heavy rainfall (more than 204.5 mm) at isolated places in all the three coastal districts on Tuesday.
Following the alert, the Dakshina Kannada district administration has asked the people to be alert. and contact the control room (1077) for any issues related to natural calamity and rain.
Warning for fishermen:
Strong wind / squally weather with speed reaching 50-60 kmph is likely to prevail along and off Karnataka coast.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.
