Reopening of Schools in present situation is dangerous : SDPI
Mangaluru: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has opposed the reopening of schools in the state.
“After the relaxation of Lockdown, positive cases of COVID pandemic is on the high rise throughout the country. At this juncture Karnataka State government is thinking to reopen the schools from July 1 which is very dangerous,” Elyas Muhammad Thumbe, SDPI State President warned.
“Since the count of pandemic infected people is also increasing day by day in the state, the idea of reopening of Schools is unscientific and illogical,” he said
He reiterated that the countries like France, Spain, and Israel have opened the schools wherein shockingly found COVID positive cases in more number of children which caused a panic situation despite adhering strict rules in these countries.
“Whereas the school children in our Karnataka State are used to commute in buses, vans, and auto-rickshaws being jam-packed which is very common. There are more chances of vulnerability to pandemic as the children from diverse social environment gather in the school. In the context of an upsurge of COVID pandemic in the country including Karnataka, panic roots within the students and parents. This will not enable the students to concentrate on the learning process,” he said.
Hence, Elyas Muhammad Thumbe urged the state government to wait and watch till the end of August to review the situation to decide the reopening of schools.
