Minister Kota visits sea erosion prone areas

Mangaluru: With sea turning rough in places like Someshwara and nearby areas in Dakshina Kannada district, Port and Fisheries Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary visited some of these places and held a discussion with the residents, leaders, and officials on Tuesday.
Places like Someshwara, Uchila, Battappadi, Ullal Mogaveerapatna, Kaiko, Hillary Nagar are the places that witness sea erosion every year.
As the sea has turned rough, Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary who is also the in-charge minister of the district visited some of the places on Tuesday.
Speaking to newspersons Minister Poojary said that he would shortly hold a meeting with Deputy Commissioner, officials from the Port Department, and also the officials incharge of ADB funded project to discuss the immediate measures to be taken for the safety of the people and property.
“We want to take an immediate step to ensure that people do not face any problem. At present project worth Rs 231 crore is under progress. Some works have to be taken on priority. I have asked officials and the DC to take immediate steps to erect the retaining wall,” he said.
Sathish Kumpala, Former Vice President of Zilla Panchayat, leaders Chandrahas Ullal, Santhosh Kumar Rai Boliyar, Chandrahas Pandit House, Hemanth Shetty, Chandrashekhar Uchil, Ravindra Shetty Ulidottu, Someshwar Town Municipality president Rajesh Uchil, Talapady Gram Panchayat president Suresh Alva and others held discussions with the minister.
