To help Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts

Manipal: COVID-19 testing lab has started its operation at Kasturba Hospital from Tuesday.

“Kasturba Medical College and Hospital received a nod from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to conduct tests of the samples of COVID-19,” Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal said.

“Testing of Covid-19 at Kasturba hospital has started from today. This Hospital is the first hospital in Udupi district to get ICMR approval for COVID-19,” he said.

The new testing facility in the Udupi district will help in getting quick reports of COVID-19 tests, as it will cater to samples collected from Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts.

“This will also ease the pressure on government testing center at Mangalore and Shivamogga. The laboratory will function round the clock” he added.

Aadhar number is compulsory for all the patients coming to the hospital.  Mask is a must for all and only one person can accompany the patient.
