COVID-19: Pregnant woman from Udupi is one among 99 positives in state

Of the 99 positive, 9 are from Uttara Kannada, 2 from Dakshina Kannada and 1 from Udupi 

Udupi: A pregnant from Udupi and two people from Dakshina Kannada are among the 99 tested positive on Monday.

The morning bulleting had 84 positives and with the addition of 15 more, the total number swelled to 99 in the state.

The 28-year-old P-1235 is a seven month pregnant. She had come to Udupi from Mumbai along with her husband on May 12 and was quarantined.

As the woman is pregnant, the district administration had collected the samples and sent them on priority.

“Today she tested positive and sent to COVID Hospital. Her husband is under isolation. We have identified the 25 people who had traveled on the same bus. Their swab will be collected shortly,” Udupi DC G Jagadeesha said.

Dakshina Kannada district recorded two new cases on Monday.

P-1233 is a 30-year-old person who had traveled from Raigadh- Maharashtra. He was under quarantine and shifted to COVID hospital.

P-1234 is a 55-year-old woman. As she was suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) her samples were tested. On Monday she tested positive.

A 37-year-old person (P-1232) who had come to Uttara Kannada from Mumbai recently tested positive on Monday.

Udupi has recorded 11 COVID cases. Of these seven are active. One died on May 14. Three were discharged one month ago.

Dakshina Kannada district has recorded a total of 47 positive cases of which 31 are active cases. The district has recorded five deaths.

Of the total 51 positive cases in Uttara Kannada, 40 are active.
