A family from Bhatkal had been to Mangaluru on medical emergency. Returned to Bhatkal as the OPD was closed by the time they reached hospital  

Bhatkal: They might have cursed their luck for being late to the hospital on April 16 but this delay might have helped them indirectly now.

It was April 16th and the family of five had left Bhatkal on a medical emergency to Mangaluru. They wanted a family member to be tested at the private hospital there.

They tried their level best to reach the hospital on time but thanks to the confusion in the Shiroor border and other issues which are said to have delayed their travel. By the time they reached the hospital, the OPD section was closed and they returned home after speaking to the doctor in the corridor.

Though the family seemed to be unlucky on that day, now they must be thanking the delay after a few in DK and Bhatkal who had been to the hospital tested positive.

A family from Bhatkal that had been to the hospital on April 21 tested positive last week. The number of infected increased and the total number of positive is now 28 in Bhatkal.

The Uttara Kannada district administration learned that two other families from Bhatkal had been to the hospital in April and sent their swabs for testing. The result of one family that went to Mangaluru has come. All tested negative.

“The family of five had been to First Neuro on April 16. But as they had been there after the OPD hours, they could not get treatment there and returned after speaking to the Doctor. It must be blessing in disguise as they did not come in contact with anybody,” sources said.

When contacted Uttara Kannada DC confirmed that the second family tested negative.
“Fortunately the second family tested negative. Now the report of the third family is awaited,” DC Dr. Harish Kumar told The Canara Post.

In the past three days, Bhatkal has recorded 27 COVID positive cases. The total active case in Bhatkal is 28.

Meanwhile, authorities are trying to find out the source of COVID in Fist Neuro hospital.
