One tested COVID-19 positive in Mangaluru
A 58 year old woman from Boloor in Mangaluru tested positive today. Boloor declared containment zone.
Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said that the 58-year-old woman (P-536) was from Boloor in Mangaluru. The patient was the contact of P-501. P-536 was shifted to Wenlock Hospital today.
Officials said that P-536 was a patient at First Neuro hospital. P-501 (the helper at the hospital) used to attend her.
First Neuro Hospital was declared Containment Zone last week.
With this, the number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has increased to 22. Since April 19, the district has recorded eight positive cases of which five are from Bantwal Taluk and three from Mangaluru City Corporation limits.
The Deputy Commissioner has declared the area near the residence of P-536 at Boloor as the containment zone. Smart City Ltd Executive Engineer-3 has been appointed as the Incident Commander.
The district administration is yet to conclude on the source of COVID cases related to Bantwal and Mangaluru.
(A brief detail: P-432 was the 75-year-old COVID-19 positive who died last Thursday. She was under treatment at First Neuro hospital in Mangaluru for stroke but shifted to Wenlock District Hospital after she developed symptoms. P-501, the helper in the hospital who attended P-432 tested positive last week. Today the patient in the same hospital (P-534) whom the helper used to attend tested positive.)
