Two arrested for threatening ASHA worker in Dakshina Kannada
ASHA workers are given the responsibility of creating awareness, tracking the foreign returns and positive patients and also collecting health details of the people in the backdrop of COVID-19.
But there have been incidents where these workers are threatened by some people.
In a press communique, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Dr. P S Harsha said that SDPI activist Ismail (45) and Ashraf (32), both hailing from Malluru Badriya Nagar had intimidated Vasanthi, an ASHA worker of Malluru village while she was performing her official duties related to the health department.
He said that the two had obstructed, threatened and prevented Vasanthi from discharging her duties. Following this, the police have booked an FIR in Mangalore Rural Police station under IPC Section 354,353,504,506.
The two have been arrested.
On April 3 the police had arrested two persons for threatening an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker at Bantwal Taluk.
